Yak winning the under 13s award
"Yak had only been in Australia 3 months, with almost nil English vocabulary, when he first came to our club.
We encouraged and supported his participation in our multi cultural country.
Yak Dut has successfully completed his second year at the West Lalor Football Club.
This year he finished 4th in the Best & Fairest in the under 13's team, receiving the “Encouragement Award” .
He also represented our club in the N.F.L under 13 team representative team against Adelaide in June.
Yak has come along way in the past three years and we have seen him learn the game and improve his skills to a very good level.
Yak is sponsored by the West Lalor Football Club; having covered his cost for Auskick registration (for past three years)
The club volunteers have participated in numerous fundraising events which have covered his participation costs for football.
"Sports Without Borders" gave us a grant to outfit him in his own gear this season.
City of Whittlesea Youth Services Multi Cultural officer – Abdi Aden has assisted with cultural issues and communication with both Yak and his family, whilst Whittlesea Community Connections Youth Worker, Philppe Rousel has assisted with transport and family support.
West Lalor is very proud to have the opportunity to support and sponsor Yak over the past few years."
